AN OLDER WOMAN GROWING FLOWERS, A YOUNGER WOMAN CAUGHT UP IN THE WEEDS, AND THE SEASONS OF LIFE

Description

Wanting to be happy and to finally write the novel she has always wished to write, Anna Hott quits her high-paced job in New York City and moves her family to Sanibel Island, Florida. But she takes her crumbling marriage and rage towards her cheating husband with her. And staying home with three children is a shock to her system. In her messy little house on stilts, she can hardly think, let alone see the beauty around her.

When her husband and kids leave, granting her a week to herself, the last thing Anna needs is her lonely neighbor coming over, gifting her with a finicky orchid. But when Fedelina, a master gardener, tells Anna she can learn a thing or two from orchids, so sprouts their friendship, and along with it, practical wisdom from the flower garden. When Fedelina’s son shows up, Anna must decide: what is really going to make her happy?

Fast forward to empty nester Anna at 56, looking back on her choices, then pulling out the incomplete manuscript she started that memorable week. To find closure for her life and a conclusion for her novel, she travels to Fedelina, living in a nursing home. As their friendship rekindles, Anna helps her great mentor from the past answer the one big question haunting her: did her life matter?

Sand in My Eyes is an emotional back and forth story of two women helping each other see the profoundness of where they’re currently at in life, and the beauty all around them.

Brilliantly woven story of women and how a woman’s life is one large metamorphosis, yet another meaningful metaphor uses in this extraordinary book, showcasing the many stages of a woman’s life.  Library Thing

I will be going back and reading it again and again. The book has a soothing and calming effect, which I absolutely cherish. It is a beautiful book. The ending took me by surprise though. I did not imagine that one coming! I recommend this book to all those who have a liking for Adult Women’s Fiction. – Bookaholics Oye!!
